So Monday I wrote a kind of depressing post about finals week. It wasn't sad, but it wasn't funny. And I didn't post it until 8pm instead of 8 am, because I wrote it super late and I was a little distracted by looming finals.
So let's talk about finals again, and try to do a little better this time.
People like to freak out about finals. They think that somehow everything they learned in a semester is going to be on some exam.
But it's not, and it never will be.
Honestly the act of studying for finals is like a bad joke.
You spend hours on getting ready, doing study guides, drawing graphs, reading text books, going to review sessions and making study groups. This part is the set up of the joke.
But then you go in, take the final for 45 minutes or an hour, and you're done. That's the punchline.
We set it up so much in our heads, then we go in there and it's just not satisfying.
But I will say this. I don't care if you're a morning person, or if you want to get finals done early so you can get on with the rest of your day. I don't care about any of that. Just don't schedule finals at 8 am. Why would you do that. That's even earlier than these posts publish. So at the very least wait until everyone has had time to read timiddimwit before you make them take your bs test.
