mornings

Ben, you didn't make a post for two days, did you forget about your blog?

Yes.

Now that that's out of the way, what's up with people scheduling things early in the morning? I mean I understand wanting to get things done before 10 AM. That makes sense; no one wants to be doing things in the afternoon. The afternoon is our time to complain about all the things that we had to do in the morning.

But scheduling a class for 8 am, or a doctors appointment at 7 am, that's just crazy. Humans shouldn't be walking around when it's dark outside. Our greatest natural predators are nocturnal. Bears, large cats, hyenas, vampire bats, fireflies, and heart attacks. If you aren't afraid of fireflies, you fucking should be. Insects that have an actual fire inside them, that's just downright terrifying.

Now maybe I don't know much about the natural predators of humans, or when people can have heart attacks, or what time the sun rises (or fireflies for that matter).  But I'm alive. 151,000 people die every single day, and I'm sure most of them got up before 7:30 am.

Why do you think your body doesn't want to get up early in the morning? Because it want's to stay alive.

And maybe I'm wrong. Maybe one of these days I'm going to be sleeping in and I'll pass in my sleep. But I'd rather die that way than being mauled by a bear.

So to answer your question, no I don't want to get coffee with you at 7 AM before your classes start. And honestly, if you need coffee to make it through your morning classes, you should change your schedule and take afternoon classes. You don't need drugs to make it through your morning routine; you need more sleep, you idiot. Now if you'll excuse me, it's 11:30 PM when I'm writing this and I need to take my sleeping pills.
