halloween

It's fall, the leaves are turning, the weather is getting colder, dimwits write blog posts about how much they hate the leaves turning and the weather getting colder. But the beginning of fall.

Halloween is the perfect sized holiday. Bigger than labor day, smaller than thanksgiving. Labor day is too small, and aside from a Sears Sales there's not much going on. And Thanksgiving is too big, you have to go home, visit family, its all too formal.

But smack dab between those two there is Halloween. It's casual, and it's actually kind of fun.

Halloween is the day that you can dress up and pretend to be anything you want. For example, you can pretend to be someone that enjoys dressing up in ridiculous costumes and going out.

You can pretend to be someone who wants to plan costumes with your friends for weeks in advance, and choose a costume party about a month ahead of time to make sure all your friends will be able to be there. You can pretend to be someone who doesn’t mind when on October 30th all of your friends decide to change their plans, so instead of being one of the cast members of lost or one of the dwarfs from sleepy beauty, you end up being some weird emoji you've never seen before. And you can pretend to be someone who isn't upset when you show up to a different party than you planned on going to and see someone else dressed as the same thing you are, only they look so much better. Seriously, how do you find such a realistic bear costume?

Okay, so maybe the costume party part can suck, and yes you do have to go to class and then work the next day (seriously, campuses should just close on Nov 1st). And maybe you'll get a little sick from all of the candy you're going to eat for the next few days, but hey, it's just there, people are handing it out all over campus. Plus you bought that huge bag of Reese's just incase you saw kids who wanted candy, even though you live on the fourth floor of the dorms, and you haven't seen anyone younger than 17 in two months. But what are you going to do, throw it out? That's wasteful. And yeah, you'll forget about that pumpkin in the corner of your room and it will rot a little, and for the first few days your just wonder what that smell is, then you'll have to find a dumpster to throw this mushy orange stick bomb in.

But Halloween is still really cool guys. Trust me… There has to be a good part.
